** This position offers a Trainee Status at a pay rate of $13.98 per hour; candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of Laundry Worker, within one (1) year of hire date**
The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health & Human Services, Healthcare Facilities, Glencliff Home has a full-time vacancy for a Laundry Worker.
Summary:
Performs routine work in the sorting, washing, drying, finishing and delivery of linen and clothing.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of eighth grade or its equivalent.
Experience: Six months' experience in a commercial or institutional laundry.
Responsibilities:
Separates soiled linen and clothing, checks for items left in any pockets such as valuables and removes fecal matter and food if present. Washes contaminated laundry in proper manner.
Operates a variety of large and small laundry machines such as washers, dryers, and hand irons.
Lifts and carries items of clean and soiled laundry weighing up to 80 pounds on a frequent basis and items weighing up to 25 pounds on a continuous basis.
Counts, marks, sorts, stocks, and bags clean linen and clothing. Codes laundry by building, floor and resident to ensure laundry is returned to its proper location.
Washes and removes stains by hand, washes sweaters by hand to prolong the life of the garments.
Fills supply containers to ensure supplies are on hand when needed.
Washes windows, sweeps and mops floors and cleans machines to ensure good housekeeping habits in the laundry.
Obtains supplies and linens from the warehouse, with supervisor's approval. Manages linen counts and storage in assigned resident areas.
